Down Cherby

After a full on week at the OC base, having delivered the Mini back to Cowes on Tuesday, sorting out the Figaros for corporate events next week, and generally catching up on general office work, it was soon time to prepare Artemis 77 for the Cherbourg race.

The forecast was ideal, with a run out, and a reach back home again. I couldn't wait to get back out on the water for some double handed sailing. With our Adrena software not working, we navigated the traditional way to Cherbourg harbour, the largest artificial harbour in the world. To finish the race, we had to enter through the Western entrance and then sail across a line due south of a small lighthouse. It was about 5am when we finished, giving us time to find familiar faces on the dock before heading off for a French breakfast of baguettes, croissants, coffee, and beer... with time passing very slowly that morning, we took a wander in to town in search of Moulles avec frites, but instead had an ice cream. We then set off again for home; a good and easy blast back across the channel. It was a long day though, having to prepare the boat for corporate sailing next week, before finally hitting the sack for the night.
