High pressure...

Wow. Yet another weekend of sun & little wind! It was the second Mini training weekend, this time with Ollie Bond (who used to sail Basecamp) & Phil Johnston coaching.

A small audience gathered on saturday morning when Jake Jefferies tipped his boat, 'Mad Dog' on its side, to kick his centreboard back up its case....

I did the Artemis Academy trials with Jake, and had heard how he had built the boat in his back garden. It was cool to see the real thing floating, and to poke around to see just how different a prototype can be, compared to the production boats.

I sailed with Luke Dampier on his Pogo 2, which was great fun mixing it up between double / single handed. Still focusing on manoeuvres, we did a lot of tacking and gybing but also some speed testing. With a very short race on the sunday afternoon, it was very obvious that proper prep. and not panicking is the key to success!

Before heading of home, Andy & Jake tried some different mainsails to see how they looked. Both were a bit small; particularly the one designed for a Pogo 1, hoisted up the Proto's exceptionally tall mast!

A shame to have to leave the Island and these funky little boats... time to stop day dreaming now though, too many essays and projects to write!
